6 Habits of Successful Enterpreneur

1) THEY APPROACH EVERYTHING WITH UNDAUNTED CONFIDENCE
If you look at the world’s most successful entrepreneurs, there is a recurring trend in the way they approach every task and challenge they come upon. Whatever situation they are facing, they face it with undaunted confidence in their ability. The success of these men and women came because of their confidence. Long before they were rich and successful, these entrepreneurs were tackling everything they encountered with the confidence of someone who has nothing to lose. Take for example co-founder of HTC, Cher Wang. Her confident persistence that the company pursue a path in cell-phone technology led them to enter into the market long before it became as profitable as it is today. Without her level of confidence, Cher would have never been so insistent about her company making this move. In short, if you believe against every odd that you will succeed, chances are you someday will.

2) THEY STAY HUMBLE
In some ways, this may sound like the antithesis of undaunted confidence, but in truth it is the perfect balancing factor. While it is true that success is achieved by skill and ability, having a personable attitude is equally important. If you look at the world’s most successful entrepreneurs, people who have every right and reason to be proud, you will find that they are usually some of the most humble people you will find. In fact, the founder of Zappos, Tony Hseih, has gone so far as to list “Be Humble” as one of his company’s core ideologies. Likewise, aerospace giant Space-X encourages their employees to “check your ego at the door”. By maintaining a humble attitude no matter your level of success, you will remain relatable and likable to both your employees and your customers. That goes a long way in driving you on to success.

3) THEY CONTINUALLY SELF EVALUATE
If you are going to strive toward your goals, it is important to keep a constant mental track of your progress. For one, it allows you to stay motivated. Self-evaluation lets you to commend yourself for your work and accomplishments even if no one else does. Likewise, it allows you to spot flaws in your methods and habits before they become damaging. Jesse Lear, co-founder of V.I.P. Waste Services says that every night before he goes to bed, he asks himself this question: “If I live every day the same way I did today, what kind of future would that create?”. If you want to be successful, you need to be asking yourself this same question. By constantly evaluating your actions and progress, you are able see your future take shape day by day rather than year by year, putting you in the driver’s seat rather than just being along for the ride.

4) THEY ARE ACTION ORIENTED
Successful entrepreneurs are most certainly thinkers, but more importantly, they are doers. Far too often, smart, driven people get tangled in a web of ideas and planning and never escape into the all-important phase of implementation. If you look at the world’s successful entrepreneurs, you will see that they are the dive-in-head-first type of people. While planning is no doubt important, the most effective plans and decisions are made in an action/reaction process. In order for there to be a well thought out reaction, there first has to be an action. Taking action can be scary. That’s why so many people tend to stick in the safe, theoretical realm of thinking and planning. But if you are going to be effective, then you are going to have to take a few leaps of faith. Successful entrepreneurs know this fact, and given the choice between analysis and action, they choose action every time.

5) THEY LOVE PEOPLE
Thinking that all successful entrepreneurs are reclusive and painfully introverted is a poor misconception. People who have achieved success recognize the importance of maintaining close, friendly relationships with everyone they come into contact with. Whatever field or expertise you are trying to rise to the top in, chances are you are going to need plenty of help along the way. Successful entrepreneurs have realized this from day one, and have honed their interpersonal skills to a razor edge. They are charismatic and charming, with a near magnetic ability to attract people to their cause. Founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg even goes so far as to admit that one of his main motivations in building a business was the hope that it would help him attract female attention. Successful entrepreneurs are people lovers, and in turn, are given the connections and allies they need to further their success.

6) THEY HAVE THICK SKIN
Being an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart. On the road to fame and fortune, there are going to be more doubters and naysayers than you will care to count. Every time you fall, there are going to be people waiting in line to kick you while you are down. The difference between successful entrepreneurs and those who sputter out is that successful entrepreneurs can get back up, shake off the dust, and keep on striving. If you are going to rise above your doubters, you have to adopt the same attitude. There are going to be times where wilting under their doubt and blaming them for your failures is going to be far easier, but these are the opportunities for you to shine your brightest. After all, the strongest steel is forged in the hottest fires. Take their negativity as a personal and challenge, and sit back and smile with each and every time you prove them wrong.
